August 15 - 24, 2008
Rumors
Location: Hayes Performing Arts Center
Telephone: 828-295-9627
The "Truth" Has Never Been Funnier
Shows at 8pm nightly and 2pm matinees on the weekends!

The Blowing Rock Stage Company is proud to feature another play by the American master of Comedy, Neil Simon

Rumors, which premiered on Broadway 1988, is set during the tenth anniversary party of the deputy mayor of New York City and his wife. As the evening opens, he lies in his bed with an unexplained gunshot wound through his ear, while his wife and the servants are nowhere to be found. Each couple arriving at the party is kept in the dark about the situation by those who had arrived prior, until the evening becomes a funny study of miscommunication and misinformation.

Winner of a 1989 Tony Award, Rumors is a hilarious, side-splitting, farce you won't want to miss.

Conceived and developed by Lynette Barkley & Christopher McGovern Book, original songs and arrangements by Christopher McGovern

Combining original songs and vintage movie musical numbers with dance, this toe-tapping account of the private life of Ginger Rogers celebrates her extraordinary talent. Best known as Fred Astaire's dance partner, Rogers was also an acclaimed actress and singer, and one of the industry's first women to demand equal pay. This brisk-paced show makes it clear why her performance prompted enchanted critics to observe, "She does everything that Fred Astaire does, but backwards and in high heels"

"A Sold out sensation." - Playbill.com
