MAY

• NC Fried Apple Pie Festival
  May 1-2, 2026- Sparta
  Celebrate an Appalachian tradition of fried apple pies through North Carolina's only fried apple pie festival. Live music, entertainment for kids, a baking contest, an eating contest and lots of family fun

JUNE

• Blue Ridge Fiber Fest
  June 5-6, 2026- Sparta
  The Blue Ridge Fiber Fest brings together farmer, vendors and fiber artists for a celebration of the fiber arts. Dozens of classes will be available - knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving, basket marking and more. Demonstrations will include both traditional and modern fiber techniques as well as farming operations.

JULY

• Fourth of July Celebration
  July 4, 2026- Sparta
  Enjoy an old-fashioned hometown parade July 5 at 2pm on Main Street. Fireworks will happen on July 4th at dark.
  
  
• Alleghany County Fiddlers Convention
  July 16-18- Sparta
  On Friday night and during the day Saturday, the audience will see and hear a variety of bands and individual contestants who come to the stage when they are ready to play, in no particular order.  You never know who's coming next! The Saturday night show is 100 percent hot pickin' bands.

SEPTEMBER

• Blue Ridge Mountain Heritage Festival
  September 19, 2026- Sparta
  Vendors line historic Main Street, Sparta, NC, in celebration of our rich mountain heritage, offering local and regional handmade and homemade arts and crafts.  Find a wide range of foods and enjoy music and dance throughout the day at the Main Street Stage.

NOVEMBER

• Christmas Parade
  November 27, 2026- Sparta
  Enjoy an old-fashioned hometown parade.  
  
  

ONGOING EVENTS

• Music on Main
  Various Dates, Sparta NC
  On the first Saturday of the month, the streets of downtown Sparta are closed for an outdoor music concert. Downtown merchants and galleries stay open late, and there is free music on the street. Opening bands usually play from 5-7 PM and the headliner plays from 7-9 PM. Bring a chair! For more information: Click HERE
  
  
• Saturdays in the Park
  Saturdays May-August, Sparta NC

  A unique winter concert series presented by the Arts Council from December through March..
